Analytics allow us to know which device the readers are using, where the readers are and which other links the readers have gone onto from the original story making them extremely helpful in the editorial process.

Media analytics are useful for editors as they give them a sense of which stories they have published are most popular. This allows them to know which stories to keep high up in the news bulletin and more of an idea when producing page hierarchy. It is positive in the editorial process as you can have an idea of how popular. story will be before publishing but it can turn out completely different; allowing them to connect even more with their readers and adjust their news bulletin accordingly.
