Starting university can bring on many different emotions for everyone. Whether you feel nervous, excited, scared, or a mixture of everything, we all feel the same. This is no different for Isla Russell. Originally from the small town of Corby, Northamptonshire, Isla is still trying to find her way around the city of London.
Isla explained how even though there was no pressure to go to university specifically, she was aware that she needed to do something with her following years. She spoke about how “university can offer you more opportunities in terms of your future career”, and you can gain so much experience. Isla told me how you can balance between going to university and gaining a degree in your chosen field, whilst still going out and completing work experience and internships that relate to what you want to do.
Although moving away from home can be daunting, Isla says how she “enjoys the new social life and cultural change” university has to offer. She also says how “if you’re going to go to university, it has to be for you”, furthermore explaining how you have to be ready but its a great experience to take part in. Even though its only been a couple of weeks, Isla is certain she made the right choice to go to university.
