Having never toured with their original line up, a reunited Bananarama play two sold out nights at the Hammersmith Apollo, a frankly modest venue for the most successful girl group of all time. The band laugh that their fan base is gay men and housewives, who are out in their masses performing dance routines with odd perfection.
The setlist is naturally saturated in the hits, so many hits. It’s obvious that the trio are enjoying this new era, completely unpretentious and gorgeously camp, pacing through mega hits like Cruel Summer, I Want You Back, and the classic Venus. Gimmick free, with all eyes on the band. The songs are given a much needed rearrangement, making these songs timeless, giving the anthems and modern twang.
Although listed as one of tour, it would be ridiculous to nip such a line up in the bud.
