Bohemian Rhapsody is a film which has been in development since the early 2010’s and has gone through numerous actor and directorial changes.
The film charts the rise of Queen from their humble beginnings, through to how they almost ultimately changed the face of rock music, and shattered many of the preconceptions which had come beforehand.
It is a vibrant celebration of Queen, led by the late great Freddie Mercury, who defied many stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the greatest rock frontmen to have lived.
The film in itself gives a great view into how Queen began and how their iconic songs, including Bohemian Rhapsody and We will rock you came to be. For the majority of the film I found myself tapping my feet to the glorious music of Queen, wanting to burst into song.
The film also covers the delicate subject of Freddie Mercury’s private live including his wild parties, issues surrounding his sexuality and his diagnosis of aids. The film covers this succinctly and in a good manner.
Overall, this a film to see if you love the music of Queen, but want to know more about the history and much of the mystery surrounding Freddie Mercury’s private life.
