The moment I enrolled in French: Level 1 in 7th grade was the moment I decided I couldn’t wait to go to France.
I finally achieved this dream this semester when I embarked on a trip to Paris! I went with the London-based student travel group Somewhere New and, to state simply, it was absolutely a great decision.
Somewhere New provided a planned itinerary for a weekend in Paris. For such a quick trip to such a large city, it was nice to have a plan for every day while still having enough free time.
After taking the Eurostar (a great decision), I entered The City of Lights. I met up with some Parisienne friends at Le Musée national Eugene Delacroix. It is the renovated house of Delacroix displaying his artwork as well as a featured artist in the garden.
The next day I toured with Somewhere New. We started at the Arc de Triomphe and walked down the Champs-Élysses to end up at the Louvre. I wish I could have spent an eternity there.
That night I ate cheese and bread while drinking wine and gazing at the Eiffel Tower. We sat at the Place du Trocadero and laughed into the night. It sparkles every night for 5 minutes on the hour. It is one of the most magnificent things I have ever seen.
On Saturday, I went with Somewhere New to take a river cruise on the Seine. We walked around to see Notre Dame and got to see the Eiffel Tower from the river. We spent the afternoon at Versailles which I have discussed in a separate post. That night I was invited to a soirée to indulge in French food, French wine, and company.
I have a quick overview of free (gratuit) things to do in Paris below. I also included some très cool photos.
