Climate Protests in Central London Disrupt Busy Roadways Course Work by boardman - October 8, 2019November 24, 20190 A string of Extinction Rebellion protests to combat climate change have shut down busy roadways in Central London affecting businesses and traffic. The protest is centered around Trafalgar Square where there is a large congregation of people holding picket signs, dancing and singing, along with tents pitched in the road. This event has closed off parts of Northumberland Avenue, The Mall, Strand, Cockspur Street and Whitehall to the Palace of Westminster, with no car access. Delivery people were walking for blocks with deliveries on pallet trucks to get them to their destination. Local businesses have been affected by the congestion, causing for less business, and long commutes.
