Labour suspend Ex-Leader

The Labour Party have announced it has suspended its ex-leader Jeremy Corbyn after after the human rights watchdog found it broke equality law in its handling of anti-Semitism.

Speaking during a broadcast interview, he urged Labour supporters to not “leave the party” and to “continue to argue the case for economic and social justice in our society”.

Corbyn, who called the report ‘overstated’, is facing calls to be permanently removed from his position as he faces an internal investigation into his behavior.

The report, launched early last year found two acts that it deemed unlawful: the use of anti-Semitic tropes and the suggestion that complaints of anti-Semitism were fake or a smear.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer vowed to rid Labour of anti-Semitism and rebuild trust in the party when Corbyn refused to accept the findings and this move showed his seriousness.

During Corbyn’s five-year tenure as leader of the party, some people accused him of sitting on the fence about anti-Semitism, including many in the Jewish community.

” I made it clear that we won’t tolerate anti-Semitism or the denial of anti-Semitism through the suggestion that it’s exaggerated or factional, and that’s why I was disappointed in Jeremy Corbyn’s response and that is why appropriate action has been taken”.

Starmer has said that there is “no need for a civil-war” within the party after he made the historic but controversial call on Thursday, but as many as three Labour MP’s have already quit regarding this issue.
