Attempted Abductions Cause Parents to Panic

Parents have taken to social media to warn others of suggested child trafficking ring after reports of attempted abductions across Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.

Reports of a man trying to coax a child out of their house on the third August in Shortstown, Bedfordshire, and suspicious behaviour towards an 11 year old in Bletchley on the sixteenth September Milton Keynes, have caused parents to take to social media to warn others of the dangers and appeal to police to investigate these incidents.

Posts on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat describe multiple apparent attempts at abducting children. One post on Facebook describes ‘three attempted abductions in Leighton and Woburn Sands’ with ‘suspects driving around in a blue car and white van.’ Another post describes ‘men and women taking photos of families in parks, trying to lure kids out of their houses with sweets..’ and other events involving suspicious behaviour towards children.

Such acts have caused many Facebook users to start the hashtag ‘SaveOurChildren’ in an effort to make other parents aware of such behaviour in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

Thames Valley Police have only recently put out a statement addressing the incident in Milton Keynes: ‘ Following a full and thorough investigation including speaking with all involved, reviewing CCTV and conducting enquires in the local area, we are satisfied that no offences have taken place in relation to this incident.’

TVP Milton Keynes have also addressed the many Facebook posts as they continue the statement: ‘We are also aware of a number of discussions on social media that suggest multiple incidents of attempted abductions in Milton Keynes and would like to clarify that we have received no further reports of any such offences or incidents.’

If anyone is aware of any further incidents they are asked to use TVP’s online reporting form or by calling 101.
