With recent discussion and debate about whether Brexit or Bremain should occur and the idea of a second referendum being called, on the 19th September, the cabinet office was surrounded by protests against Brexit. According to Jane, a protester standing outside, states that “inside the cabinet office, there are discussions for leaving the European union”. The motive for her views on Brexit according to her are the major economic shock that Britain would face. There would be difficulty making UK firms and consumers doing business with the European union. The idea of a second referendum has been raised, bringing clashes between these two opposing sides. However, those supporting Brexit believe that a second referendum being called would be unfair as the opportunity to vote has already been made. According to Kate, a Brexit supporter, she stated that a second referendum would be “disgusting”. She believes that the people have spoken and that it is unfair as their opportunity to vote was made during June 2016. She states “we have had the vote and we have won”. This raises the question whether calling a second referendum is fair or even ethical. The opportunity to remain within the European union was made three years ago, calling a second referendum would be dismissing those who voted for Brexit.
