Thousands gather to protest COVID-19 Restrictions in London

Thousands gathered on Saturday in anti-lockdown protest in Trafalgar Square.

Thousands of mask-less, anti-lockdown protestors mustered in Trafalgar Square on Saturday ignoring all social distancing guidelines.

The objectors rallied for hours shouting “we do not consent” holding a diversity of signs, packed into the square in spite of police appeals to follow Coronavirus safety restrictions.

The organising campaign Save Our Rights UK and former footballer and conspiracy theorist David Icke participated in speeches where Icke describes government as “psychopaths” he stated “you are trapped by the psychopaths into enforcing fascism for the psychopaths” followed by a cheer of rage by the crowd.

A young protestor also commented “We should not give others the power to determine our freedoms! We need to break out of this chain of oppression and enforce our rights” before throwing water at an officer.

Responding to the protest, London Mayor Sidiq Khan said qtd “We cannot let the sacrifices Londoners have made be undermined by the selfish behaviour of a small number.”

As a result in failure to follow COVID-19 restrictions, the protest was stopped, sixteen arrests were made and nine officers were injured from a violent outbreak in retaliation.
