After one year of negotiations The Borough Hall will be put up for sale again

The London Borough Hall of Greenwich will be put up for sale again after the plan to transform the building in a theatre failed. This Wednesday, 21 Oct 2020 The Greenwich Council will have a meeting entitled “Disposal of Borough Halls” and the main purpose is to approve the freehold or leasehold disposal of Borough Halls.

A Deptford-based company, Selladoor which runs a big number of theatres in the UK, planned to expand the building, with 640 seats and a rooftop bar.

The reason why The Borough Hall is empty more than 2 years could be the Greenwich Dance Agency moving to Charlton House.

The council lose its interest in building because it doesn’t bring income, and a potential sale will confirm this. The property was constructed in the late 1930s, and was sold in 1970s with the clock tower, but except The Borough Hall. As it’s written in the Wednesday reports: “To do nothing will remain a pressure on the Council’s finances and represents a lost opportunity to bring the building back into
meaningful use.

These doors to be locked. Fully open during the whole time either hall in use.
