NOVEMBER WEEKS 2-3 – VIDEO EXERCISE
Following all the lectures with learning how to use Premiere, I made a video on how I personally coped with coronavirus to play around with video and audio editing. I did this initially thinking it was an exercise however I misunderstood but continued anyway to add to my workbook.
I began by planning what I would say in a structure: Introduction, Things I’ve been doing, explanation of each of those things then an outro with a conclusion.
I identified what I would talk about which is keeping busy, exercising, making music, selling clothes and being with people.
I then recorded the audio on my microphone and edited out clicks and pops in audition. My mic picked up no humming noises so I didn’t have to mess around with that
After the audio was exported, I placed it into premiere pro as the base audio layer.
I then listened through it and recorded 4 to 5 clips of each area I spoke about: My music making process, some parts of my exercise routine, random mise en scene shots of my room, pictures of family and friends and how I sell my clothes online.
After recording I picked out which shots would be best, imported them, added them to the timeline and began to shorten the clips to fit the base audio narration.
I unlinked most audio except for some music clips and a clip of me boxing. With the clip of me boxing I wanted to leave the sound of impact on the bag but there was a humming noise in the background. I edited this particular part in Audition to cancel that out then replaced the original audio with said clip as seen below.
I then lowered the audio of me making music to add a bit of ambience, its more felt than heard. I also decided to not use an audio bed of music as I felt like lockdown has been fairly mundane; I didn’t want to have upbeat music nor slow music as I felt like a lot didn’t fit and felt no music fit better.
I added the rest of the clips and played it through and shortened or lengthened clips as I went on. Eventually I was happy with it and exported it.
