251 new Covid-19 cases in Latvia

In the last 24 hours there has been 251 new positive Covid-19 cases in Latvia and one person is dead.

For the second day consecutive there has been 251 new positive Covid-19 cases in Latvia. One person has died in the age group from 85 to 90 years old. Overall in the last 24 hours there has been done 5105 Covid-19 tests. Proportion between the tested and the ones that has been presented positive for Covid-19 is 4,9%.

It is possible that the second outbreak of Covid-19 has finally reached Latvia as well. In the last month there has been around 3000 new positive Covid-19 cases, mostly in the capital city of Latvia – Riga. The government hasn’t declared a new  lockdown but the restrictions are getting tigher within each 2-3 days.

In the 13th of March the lockdown was declared in Latvia. The emergency situation continued till the 9th of June. In the summer there were some restrictions left for the public but situation was stable.

For the public there was a request to work from home if possible. Face masks are also mandatory in all public indoors such as public transports, shops and cafes. Some of the schools have completely shut down and providing lessons online while others school are mixing up the online and face-to-face lessons.
