Week 3:
Video package:
In the video package , my focus was on my local Covid and how has Covid 19 affected the mental health of people.
What I done in this video package was record people on how Covid has affected their mental health. The following questions I asked was:
- How has Covid 19 affected your mental health ?
- What have you done to overcome this ?
- Do you know any one else that has been affected by it ?
By these questions I was able to gather a range of information on how Covid had an affected on them and ways they have tackled it. Overall I’ve discovered that Covid has a huge impact on many people’s lives where it has affected them physically and mentally.
I’ve included a variety of shots such as mid shots , long shots and panel shots. I’ve used a montage which included different pictures related to mental health and I’ve used a music bed to set the tone of the video and to get the audience to engage through it. I’ve edited this video package on premiere pro and used different effects to the video such as different transitions such as cross fade , dip to black/ white , I’ve used slide transitions etc.
The difficulties I faced with the video package is making sure it fits between the 2min-3min range. My video package only goes over by few minutes. And when it came to submitting the video was at first to large soo I had to compress the video in order for it to fit for it to be submitted.
Audio- The second choice was for me to create an audio package. The problems I encountered doing the audio package was trying to get an expert to get hold of an expert to talk on how COVID has affected peoples mental health. I was only able to get eye witnesses and do a narration voice over. I had access to the audition Adobe app and i used to edit the audio pieces. I used the app to edit the voiceovers and the audio from the interviews and I’ve included music bed to it. I found the music bed on bensounds.com and download and imported to the audio track.
LJ Filotrani gave the class a task to listen to 5 different audio packages on sound cloud and we had to write notes and identify who the expert voice and eye witnesses was and to check if any sound effects and music beds were being used. The purpose of this task was to get an idea of how my audio package should be like and what things I must include.
Task 1:
1. Create a post on your websites called: 2 -3 min package examples
2. Listen to all 5 packages
3. Note down for each package – the expert voice, the eye witness
4. Note down for each package – music used – how and where and for how long
5. Note down for each package – any sound effects
6. Timings for each package – how long do the different elements last? How long does the presenter talk for? How long do the interviews last for … write down the complete timings from start to finish for each package.
Task 2:
Choose one of the packages and create a script for it – transcribing it and making a note of all the timings
Week 4- in the lecture we learnt about vox pops interviewing which is a short video made up of clips taken from interviews with people. It helps to gather people’s opinions about different topics.These videos are created in a variety of different ways. From on the street style, to in-home interviews.
We also were learning about editing which is the arranging of material in a meaningful way which tells the story in the way you want. We learnt ways to edit such as using cut always and using different transitions while editing , making sure to include a narrative voice over. Ensure that the sound levels are balanced, use appropriate music.
