The anti-fur activists stood outside the store holding banners and propaganda to protest against the cruelty against coyotes on Regent Street, Soho on Thursday.

Further information about this process was handed out in leaflets titled ‘Cruelty in every stitch’, which is PETA literature detailing the harm caused to said animals, alongside gruesome images of them in cages and being skinned.

Members chanted and shouted phrases such as “Fur is murder” and “Make a change now”.

A teenage boy passing by in a Canada Goose jacket shouted “Shut up you silly bastards!” at the group.

In addition to what normally happens at the usual protests, they wrote the words ‘Cowards exit’ outside doors used alternatively for the customers of the store, to avoid the crowd at the main entrance rallying against the cruelty, who may potentially shame and guilt them as they left with the products.

Jan, a member of ‘Badge of Hate’ stated that all their protests were peaceful; “We just try to raise awareness for our cause and would never take things to a harmful manner, whereas people passing by have hurled racial, homophobic and other abuse at us”. She also informed of a disablist incident from the past; “One of our members – who is in a wheelchair, visibly vulnerable – was pushed by someone on the street”.

Grace, another member added that the group all actively do their part by not supporting any other acts of animal cruelty such as testing, cruelty and torture. “We’re all vegan as well” she added.

Another location this has been happening is at Leicester Square, and they consistently perform these protests every Thursday 4-7pm. Other dates and upcoming protests are updated on their Facebook page.
