Digital services sales expected to flourish as the UK are to spend more this year than last


The Broadcasting regulator Ofcom revealed on Wednesday (21/11/18), that positive sales trends for digital services have significantly risen in the UK, while consequently sales for PC and DVD has gone down significantly.

Ian Macrae, Ofcom’s Director of Market Intelligence, said: “The growth in popularity of streaming services has created tremendous demand for connected TVs, which for many people are replacing DVD players, and the smartphone is replacing several other devices at once”.

According to a report conducted by the Centre of Retail Research, this weekend the UK is expected to spend £3.48bn online and £4.8bn in-store. This weekend (23/11/18 – 26/11/18) the UK is expected to spend a total £8.29bn, that’s a of  increase of 7% compared to last year.
